At Sonance, we spend the better part of every day striving to create the best possible products and relationships. But we want to do even more. The greater area of San Clemente, CA is our home. Not just for work, but for our lives and families. Which is why we're beyond proud of our work with the Sonance Foundation. Through volunteer work and philanthropy, this foundation focuses on education, protection of our beautiful beaches and the ocean, and on helping those in need throughout our community.

This summer, Sonance Foundation was able to volunteer at the @bgcsouthcoast Summer Barbecues to provide hot meals and delicious snacks for all the kids. We grilled up hot dogs and hamburgers, had side fruits, veggies, chips as well as Nutella biscuits served for dessert! We want to ensure that the kids are well fed and fueled up for all the awesome activities the Boys and Girls Club has to offer. The Boys and Girls Club provides free lunch to all their kids throughout the summer so that they never have to go hungry. Earlier this week our volunteers got together to prepare art materials for the @bgcsouthcoast Boys and Girls Club’s upcoming art project. Giving back to the community takes big and small gestures alike, and even though this may seem small, it makes a big difference to the kids who get to create with these materials. We are grateful for all the work the Boys and Girls Club does to ensure the youth in our community are engaged and inspired. We created the Sonance Foundation to help make the world a better place by giving back from our business successes, focusing on our local community in South Orange County. In addition to providing thousands of meals and creating remote classrooms during the pandemic, the club has provided a safe place for kids in our community with after-school, summer and sports programs, making opportunities for kids to become engaged in positive activities. We are so grateful for all the work they do for the youth in our community and proud to present this check for $100K to the Boys & Girls Club of the South Coast Area. @bgcsouthcoast

Sonance foundation met today, April 1st, to prepare materials for the @bgcsouthcoast Boys and Girls Club’s Easter themed art project. In honor of #WorldWaterDay Sonance Foundation partnered up with @surfridersoc to hold a beach clean up! Saturday, March 26th, the two groups came together to clean up our local beaches. Tasty food was provided by @the.real.empanada in San Clemente, a awesome ocean friendly restaurant. After a few hours of scouring the beach for trash big and small, everyone was able brings bags of trash back to be properly disposed. Sonance foundation is proud to be a part of events like this. With our $5,000 donation to the Surfrider Foundation we hope to help clean up our community and bring everyone together to make a difference!

Today is International Women’s Day. A day for celebrating women around the globe. Here at Sonance Foundation we believe in creating an equitable workspace for our employees. We know that we wouldn’t be where we are today if it weren’t for our female employees, who go above and beyond when it comes to their job. This year, in honor of women around the world we are donating $2,500 to @womenforwomen who help women survivors of war and conflict. We are also donating $2,500 to @girlswhocode who help empower the future generation of women to take charge in the ever-growing world of technology. With generous donations from Scott Struthers, Rainbow Sandals Foundation, & Ketterman Ranch, and with the help of Byron Roth and STRUT President Tommy Gaut, the Sonance Foundation sourced two 12 passenger vans for the Boys and Girls Club of Bisbee, AZ to provide safe and reliable transportation to the children attending the club’s programs. Yesterday was the Sonance Foundation’s last Summer BBQ with the Boys & Girls Club of the South Coast Area! This event is one of our favorite events, not only because it’s a lot of fun to grill out in the middle of the day, but because @bgcsouthcoast does such amazing work within our community! Sonance Foundation believes that protecting our coastal waters is vitally important. That’s why on #worldwaterday2021 we granted our local Surfrider chapter $5,000 to help them fight to preserve San Clemente’s beaches, waves, and ocean. It’s through this grant that we hope to help preserve this coastal habitat for generations to come. #surfriderfoundation #beachcleanup #conservation

Mission and History Statement

The Sonance Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization stemming from the San Clemente headquartered audio manufacturer, Sonance. Sonance was founded by Scott Struthers and Geoff Spencer in 1983, when they introduced the world’s first in-wall speaker. Their successes in the audio industry have provided Scott and Geoff with opportunities for philanthropic outreach which they have enthusiastically embraced. Their passion to give back resulted in a global philanthropic effort to create the non-profit, Elephant Cooperation in 2016. Elephant Cooperation is focused on supporting the health and safety of the elephant population in Africa and funding food programs and educational initiatives for families in those African communities.

Having established an international philanthropic arm, the founders of Sonance and its leadership team recognized a need to give back domestically as well. In 2018, the Sonance Foundation was born. The goal of the Sonance Foundation is to support the local community with a focus on three key pillars: Education, the Environment, and Assisting Those in Need. Through donations to local and national organizations, activation of volunteers, and by creating numerous scholarships for local schools, the Sonance Foundation continually strives to make the world a better place.
